The Food Court “Rasapura Masters” at Marina Bay Sands, One of Singapore’s Most Iconic Integrated Resorts, Undergoes a Major Renovation

GARDE led the concept design, design development, and design supervision for the food court Rasapura Masters at Marina Bay Sands, one of Singapore’s most iconic integrated resorts. This project marks the second renovation of the venue undertaken by GARDE, following its previous refurbishment in 2018.

A New Vision of the Food Court Where Luxury and Everyday Dining Coexist

Rasapura Masters is a food court that brings together everything from Singapore’s beloved local dishes to offerings from renowned eateries, reflecting the city’s reputation as one of ASEAN’s leading culinary capitals.
In the 2018 renovation, two concept zones—“Heritage Kitchen” and “Metropolitan Kitchen”—were introduced, creating an elegant yet lively space where tradition and urban sophistication coexist.
This renovation marks GARDE’s second project at the venue. As Marina Bay Sands strengthens its presence as an international MICE hub and the overall facility undergoes a shift toward greater luxury, the food court was tasked with evolving beyond its previous context to offer a more immersive and extraordinary dining experience.
While maintaining the functional aspects of a daily-use food court, GARDE reimagined the entire space to be brighter and more open. By actively integrating digital content, the design also enhances the dining experience, presenting a new concept of what a modern food court can be.

Reimagining Singapore: Inspired by Greenery, Water, and Orchids
In the 2018 renovation, champagne gold, red brick, and colorful mosaic tiles were used to symbolically represent Singapore’s development at the time and its diverse food culture.
For the current renewal, while building on that legacy, the focus shifted to the city’s present and future identity as “GARDEN CITY SINGAPORE.” Inspired by greenery, water, and orchids, the space has been updated to create an environment where nature and urbanity, as well as the real and digital, coexist harmoniously.
Throughout the space, marble and glossy materials, combined with a striking lighting scheme, create a refined sense of luxury. Green was chosen as the primary color, while the ceiling design evokes the Singapore River. In addition, the lighting fixtures are inspired by the stamen and pistil of Singapore’s national flower, the orchid, embedding the city’s symbolic identity into the interior.

Enhancing the Experiential Value Through Light and Digital Elements

In the previous design, the focus was primarily on materials and color to shape the space. In this renovation, however, the experiential value has been greatly enhanced through the integration of light and digital elements. Kinetic lighting is installed behind each tenant’s signage, visually conveying the dynamic nature of the cooking process.
Additionally, two new digital walls project artworks inspired by Singapore’s skyline and urban greenery, creating a bright and lively environment that shifts in character depending on the time of day and the scene.

Improved Functionality and Expanded Space Through a Redesigned Layout

In this renovation, the layout was completely reconfigured, and new chairs were custom-designed to increase seating capacity. The food court has evolved into a space that accommodates a wide range of visitors, from tourists to business guests, offering both scale and comfort. Careful attention to lighting and sightlines ensures the space remains easy to navigate and comfortable to stay in, even during peak hours.

A Unique Fusion of Futuristic Design and Singaporean Identity

Food courts are traditionally highly contextual spaces, often featuring local architectural styles and motifs. In this project, the aim was to create a space befitting Marina Bay Sands, a leading integrated resort in ASEAN, that feels futuristic while still capturing the essence of Singapore.
Through a vision in which nature and urbanity, as well as the real and digital, coexist, the design achieves a one-of-a-kind food court experience that goes beyond conventional boundaries.
